Heritage Projects at Sutcliffe Consulting Engineers

Sutcliffe Consulting Engineers have worked in the Heritage sector for over 15 years. From listed buildings to distinct Minster refurbishments we're extremely proud of the work undertaken in this sector. A few examples of our capability are detailed below, but please do not hesitate to contact us should require a full portfolio.

Hull Minster

Sutcliffe Consulting Engineers were appointed to undertake the Mechanical and Electrical design for this prestigious scheme. As part of the Hull City of Culture 2017 developments, Holy Trinity Church received a £4.5M investment to transform the building into both a place of worship and a place for creative arts. It became Hull Minster.

The design included underfloor heating and trench heating whilst maintaining authentic features of this Grade I listed building. This will provide a huge difference to the atmosphere by creating a warm place to retreat.

In regards to Electrical services, Sutcliffe Consulting have designed the back of house lighting, a new fire alarm system, new intruder alarm and mains distribution with limited intrusion to the church.

Project Value - £4,500,000

Hornsea Methodist Church

Sutcliffe Consulting Engineers carried out significant design work for the refurbishment of Hornsea Methodist Church.

This included the installation of a new heating system, domestic hot and cold water services and electrical installation.

We were not only responsible for the design of services but also supervision of the mechanical and electrical services installations.

Mount St. Bernards, Abbey Brewery

Conversion of the existing laundry facility at the Abbey into an industrial sized brewery. New electricity and water infrastructure was required to facilitate the additional demand from the brewery. Sutcliffe Consulting Engineers were appointed to undertake Mechanical and Electrical design of the project.

We worked closely with a German brewery engineering company (Joh. Albrecht) to provide the required electrical and mechanical services to the specialist equipment.

The area was also refurbished to provide a clean working environment, complete with new IP65 rated luminaires, industrial sockets, ventilation and LTHW unit heaters.

Project Value - £600,000
